The month of April has been designated Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Prevention Month. To highlight the importance of these related causes and raise awareness, Hope Haven will be taking part in several local events. Constraints include the inability to publicly criticize the unresponsiveness of mainstream organizations, an increased likelihood of cooptation to mainstream views, a shift of the focus toward survivors and away from social and political change, and a greater tolerance for mainstream unresponsiveness.
