As Hope Haven’s Bilingual Family Advocate, Stephanie provides support services to adults, children, and their families by assisting them in reporting abuse to the appropriate authorities, by providing them with counseling and community referrals, and by providing court accompaniment. Stephanie also plays an active role in the Forensic Interview and Forensic Medical processes. She spent nearly ten years working as an interpreter in medical, legal and social service settings, most recently at the Medicaid Division of the State Department of Health and Human Services. As a Family Advocate for Hope Haven, Stephanie continues to provide services to the Hispanic community. She believes that her role as an Advocate is a critical piece of the healing process for survivors of sexual assault and their families. As a recent graduate of the first “South Carolina Victim Assistance Academy,” Stephanie feels well prepared to fulfill her valuable role as advocate.
