Shauw Chin

Executive Director

Shauw Chin Capps came to the leadership position of Hope Haven with more than 10 years of hands-on program and management experience in the family support, rape crisis and child advocacy counseling field. She joined Hope Haven in August 2004 as Executive Director where she oversees all operations and programs of the Rape Crisis and The Childrens Advocacy Center.

Shauw Chin is a Certified Social Worker and a member of the Prevent Child Abuse America network and the Healthy Families America (HFA) network. She is also a certified forensic interviewer via The American Prosecutors Research Institutes National Child Protection Training Center.

She entered the profession in 1995 with the Center for Women & Families Rape Crisis Program in Louisville, KY as a therapist. She then served with Louisvilles Family & Childrens Counseling Center as a program supervisor which included statewide and national training for Family Support Workers. While at the Family & Childrens Counseling Center she became State Technical Assistant Specialist with a team to draft and implement program policies for all Health Family sites across the state of Kentucky as well as a National Trainer with Great Kids, Inc.

Shauw Chin has a Masters Degree in clinical social work and began work in the child advocacy field during her undergraduate study at Baylor University in Texas where she served as a case worker for the Methodist Childrens Home.

Shauw Chin and her husband, Paul, live in Beaufort with their two children, Phoebe and Lydia.
